Dungeon Crawler Carl, Books 1-5

5 stars. Injects humor into the genre.

This is the type of iseaki where a new system drops on Earth in the middle of the night, killing almost everyone who was indoors. Carl happened to be outside, chasing his cat. And suddenly, almost everything on the planet’s surface was destroyed and a new dungeon opens up for players to enter.

This series of LitRPG books is loved by fans, and for good reason.

Things I liked about the book series:

  • I liked the humor and running jokes within the books
  • Great writing
  • Fast pace of advancement

Things that took away from it:

  • Sometimes you have enough of the jokes, and need to stop reading the series for a few months

DCC is one of the best examples of LitRPG books. It’s funny and fun, and this is one of those books that have developed a cult following among fans. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea. I liked it a lot. But I haven’t gotten around to read the most recent book in the series, and I’m not in a rush to do that.
