I Ran Away to Evil, Book 1

4 stars. Cute easy-to-read cozy LitRPG book without much evil

So I bought this book more than a year ago, and yesterday I decided to find something to read and read it.

It was nice. It was well-written, and easy-to-read. More of a romance novel than anything else, it had light LitRPG elements.

The heroine Princess Henrietta grew up in a kingdom where her parents treated her terribly. Constantly berated for not being good enough, yet given the best training and schools available. A strange combination, sure. But let’s accept that he was a super-capable fighter (level 60+) who was raised by a King and Queen who didn’t love her and were generally nasty people to everyone in the kingdom.

The Princess was sent on a mission. Go to a far away land and kill the Evil King of Darkness over there. Since she was sure to fail, the bad King and Queen would use this as a pretense to invade their neighbor. “He killed the Princess!”

But she did not fail. Instead, the Evil King of Darkness and the Princess instantly fell in love.

I’ll leave it there. It’s a sweet book. Since I haven’t been reading much lately, a nice palette-cleanser to get me back into the habit.

It’s fun, light and ends up as a pure romance novel.

I don’t understand why the bad King (of Darkness) is known as the evil one. He ends up being a softie who no one is afraid of and everybody loves.

But it’s a good premise for a book.

There are two more in the series. Not sure if I will read them, but if I ever need something light again.
