4.5 stars. Classic fantasy anime.
I was looking for something new to read, and took a chance on this. I don’t regret it at all.
This book uses many of the classic tropes of progression fantasy:
- Users are in a Virtual Reality video game
- Evil villain makes it so that they can’t log out
- They have to climb a tower (defeating 100 levels) to earn their freedom
This book includes a sweet romantic element as two characters find love in the game.
This book felt very short, as I was able to read it in about a day. But I don’t regret the $15 I spent on it.
It doesn’t compare with the giants of the fantasy book space like He Who Fights with Monsters or Cradle. But I liked it and wouldn’t change a word about it.
Apparently, there is a anime show on this, so I might be able to follow the story more there.
