Battle Mage Farmer Series, Books 1-3

5 stars. Never thought I’d enjoy a book on farming.

This is a great story. One of the most powerful mages in the world finally earns his retirement, and is given a plot of land (with a farm and some animals) as his reward. He shows up to claim his farm, and is right in the middle of a lot of the town’s events.

Of course, nothing is so easy. When he arrives, there is some type of dispute going on in the middle of his property. He wants no part of it. But agrees to take in a 20-year-old girl and her brother to help him run the farm. Many bullies are trying to win the affection of this girl by any means, but lucky for her, the most powerful mage is having none of it.

Over this series, some mysteries are slowly uncovered in a very interesting way. As our protagonist wants to develop his farming skills, he needs certain tools and certain people to perform tasks such as the blacksmith. He needs a trader to come visit the town often to bring in new goods and take away his crops to sell elsewhere. And so he is brought into more and more little problems that need solving and he’s good at solving problems.

This book is really well written, and I wanted to finish the whole thing in a day or two. I then quickly read the second book. I’ll definitely read the third book and the rest.

Things I liked about the book series:

  • Very well written
  • Great story
  • Interesting characters
  • Well done relationships slowly forming between characters
  • Interesting adventures

Things that took away from it:

  • Can’t think of anything.

Just read the book. Run don’t walk.
