5 stars. This series is so well done (so far), that it’s going to be added to my favorite series page.
It’s a female MC, which is a nice change from a lot of other books. Although she’s called a healer (thus the title), her main passions seem to be in hand-to-hand combat. So she can fight (and enjoys it) and can heal herself. That combination allows quick progression.
The book goes at a pretty quick pace (mostly), which is nice. It’s not just fighting, she meets people along the way. She’s sometimes flirty, which is human. Generally assumes the best in people unless they prove otherwise to be untrustworthy. Even helps someone who betrays her as a final act before leaving. All very natural human behaviors.
Things I like about the book:
- Well-written
- Easy to read
- Compelling MC
- Compelling side characters and quests
- Touch of humor
- Touch of romance (but not love)
Things that can be improved:
- I think she’s stuck in this dungeon a bit too long
- Maybe too trusting of other adventurers (and willing to team up) when she could easily remain solo
I’ll continue to read more after this.
